Thai Gangsters

Identifying with someone is a matter of taste, it is true that the culture where we live influences a lot in the way of living and thinking but sometimes one can feel more comfortable with the cultural aspects of a very distant subculture. Thai gangsters represent an example of cultural appropriation of another subculture, the Mexican Gangsters, because although the different environment where they lived, they decided to take some of the Mexican Gangsters traditions. Thai gangsters decide to wear the clothes, tattoos and hairstyles that identify the real "Cholos" a style that according to them was adaptable to their weather conditions and style. An important aspect to stand out about this subculture is that they choose not to follow the violence that the real Mexican gangsters practice. This aptitude shows that if someone is not comfortable with a detail of a culture, it should not be a problem to consider their selves or be considered by the others as a member of a subculture. Cultural appropriation shows how the globalization of our world leads to break the frontiers  and make us a part of an intercultural world.

Racism in Colombia

It is illogical to think in racism in a country where most of us share an African ancestor or even an Afro-Colombian member of our family. All human beings are equal so racism is not an option for anybody to follow. Limiting the rights of someone just by the color of their skin must be punished severely in order to stop racism. Everybody should start with his or her own way of living, avoiding any kind of racist practice and promoting the equality to completely stop racism. The empowerment of Afro Colombian or any other subculture that has been  oppressed should be promoted by the government with special places in university, political places or job opportunities. Such practices have been implemented recently by the Colombian Government, let's hope that racism in our country ends soon.
